Hello my Friends,
As I sit here in my little studio, fan blasting cool air against my overheated sweaty body; I ponder … hmmm… what to do for my next turn at “Featured Artist” (the thought of which makes me want to run to the hills, find a cabin in the mountains where the wildfires cannot

reach me..and to disappear, for a little while). It’s not that I don’t love to paint, it’s just… I want to be invisible for just a little while. This summer has been too hot, too mosquitoey’ and way too noisy politically, not to mention ridiculously discombobulating with the poor Neighbours to the south sinking slowly into a blazing sunset.
In fact, let me think on this: An exhibit that celebrates the idea of invisibility. I wonder how many folks would come. Ok, let’s look at some who have done this and been successful.
There’s Andy Warhol for example. He used invisible ink in one of his installations. The work would only show itself under special conditions. This sounds interesting.
There’s Yves Klein, an Artist known for his show entitled “Zone of Immaterial Pictorial Sensibility”. In other words creating empty gallery spaces dedicated to the idea of immaterial art. The Guy actually did a whole show in Paris in the 50’s that featured a totally empty space..and SURPRISE!..people packed the Room.
Ok, ok here’s the Gold Star winner: A modern day Italian Artist actually sold his invisible sculpture for real money. The guy who purchased it got a stamped certificate of authenticity for $18,000.
You gotta love “folks”!

So that’s it then. I will expose my bare wall to the public and title my next show
“What’s Not seen by the Naked Eye”. Stay tuned for spring.
But I digress, a serious topic one of our fine painters has put in the time and talent to bring to you, beloved friends and patrons of Art Hollis, some of her newest work - and it is not invisible. It is a feast for the eyes and balm for the soul: Friends in My Backyard, subtitled “Inspired by the plants and animals around my home that have become my friends throughout the seasons.”

Her show runs from September 4 - 30 and opens with a reception on Saturday, September 6th from 3-5 pm.
As Tweety Bird says, That’s all Folks.
See you at the Gallery
