Auld Lang Syne

Auld Lang Syne

Auld Lang Syne

And like the song goes..we look back at a year filled with changes. Some good and some - well let’s just say best to forget. Hopefully though we can look forward to 2025 with the innocent eyes of a child full of expectation, hope and for dreams fulfilled.

The year has been kind to Art 1274 Hollis. It’s been a busy and fruitful one for sure.

To top the year off the Community voted us near the top of the list of local Galleries you like to visit! Thank you! This is what inspires us to make your visits even more exciting.

As I said, it was a busy year, starting with our Red Show inFebruary  where we celebrated the colour red with work dedicated to that hue on the colour wheel.

In March we worked on busting through “creative blocks” by honouring the Music Industry and the Juno awards held right here in our own City.

In Spring we shared the spotlight with our incredibly gifted Glass Diva who created a beautiful unique tartan dedicated to Peggy’s Cove. Congratulations again Lori!

We mustn’t forget our fashion show put on by none other than our own Denise Uebele, who modelled and displayed brand new and hugely popular pieces of her wearable fibre Art.

Mid summer brought Openings with lovely work by two of our painters Colleen Underwood and Dan Venoit. Both Openings were fun and a huge success.

Late summer was our Ceramist Judy Gordon’s time to shine. Her work was inspired by her love of the rugged beauty she witnessed around her in Newfoundland.  September saw our Heather Crout “Strut her stuff” in her special show “A Riot of Colour”. Heather has a large following and her Opening was great!

The season of Fall we celebrated “Nocturne“. That evening was beautiful and saw our rooms filled  to overflowing with folks lined up outside. Cider and cookies and of course our “Five Objects” exhibit.

In November, yours truly showed off her love of Home in what was to be my first landscape exhibit. Hopefully with a bit of work it won’t be the last one.

We closed the year off with a show in December of some of the most incredibly beautiful glass work you can find anywhere in this province! We were excited when Lori Nason staged her unique tartan and also one of a kind Christmas designs. Our gallery literally sparkles! You must go see this work. Oh and of course ..the Snowfolk!! They are all waiting to wish you the happiest, healthiest New Year.

See you at the Gallery,

Cris
