Midnight Hooter

I remember the first time I heard the Northern Saw-whet Owl's repetitive "too-too-too" call. I was working as a naturalist in a national park and had no idea what creature was making this distinctive sound. Many years later I met one in person while working at Hope for Wildlife. This fierce little owl, no bigger than your hand, stole my heart. Now I listen for him in the dark whenever I get the chance, hoping to hear his call.
